Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus)

Although rarely seen, Platypus are present all year round in the creek downstream of the waste water treatment plant. In 2001, the Friends Group, with assistance of the North Central CMA, engaged the Platypus Conservancy to undertake a trapping survey at several locations along the creek. Three individual platypus were captured and one was displayed to an enthusiastic bunch of 70 local people who turned out at 7AM on a cold frosty morning.
