Common Brown Butterfly (Heteronympha merope)

In the summer this butterfly is very common along Campbells Creek. The caterpillars feed on grasses, both native and introduced. The adults feed on nectar. The photo is of a male feeding on flowers of a Burgan (Kunzea phylicoides) planted by the Landcare Group.
