Freshwater (Eel-tailed) catfish (Tandanus tandanus)

According to local angler stories this fish was still present in the creek in the 1960s. By 2000 it was apparently extinct throughout all but the lowest part of the Loddon catchment. This is thought to be due to competition from introduced carp (Cyprinus carpio) as well as stream degradation.
